The Lemhi County Historical Society and Museum is always ready to accept gifts that
have historical significance to Lemhi County. Examples of items of interest include, but
are not limited to, old letters, manuscripts, photographs, books, ledgers, or clothing. You
can bring your items to the museum for evaluation or talk with the Board
of Directors. It is helpful to have as much historical information as possible about each item. The
historical society will have you sign a "statement of gift" which assigns the item to the
historical society and can be used by you as a tax deduction as defined by law. By gifting
an item to the historical society you are guaranteeing that the item will be properly cared
for. The goal of the historical society is to preserve the past for the future.
